Walk-ins, Walk outs

These little incidents have become quite the spectacle lately, and it's starting to test my patience. I get it, inflation's got everyone in a financial squeeze, turning dining out into a luxury. But seriously, WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. FECK!??!?!?! You see, we have this nifty menu posted outside my workplace. It's like a price list for your convenience. Yet, you waltz in, get all comfy at a table, and then decide our menu is suddenly "too expensive"... What, did the prices skyrocket by 20% the moment you walked through the door? And to top it off, you shoot me a glare as if I control the universe's pricing schemes. Good luck with your bargain-hunting culinary crusade! Now, here's a thought for the sake of common courtesy. Even if we didn't have an external menu, wouldn't it be a grand idea to ask for one before claiming your territory at a table? It'd save us the trouble of re-cleaning and resetting the table, which takes time away from tasks that act...

Have you ever been told: "You're just a waiter/server!" LMAO!!!! Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn Son!! Firstly, no! Secondly, I bet you ain't walked a day in our shoes nor would your ass last a week! The skills we have obtained through sweat and blood are as follows (but not limited to): Patience . Mannnnnn.....oh MAN!!! The number of times I wanted to throw out complete brats or had to work with incompetent colleagues...Breathe and continue...it'll pass and pass it does! If you're religious, you can ask your God/Goddess/Gods for patience to put up with the mother****er because if you grant me strength, murder will happen! Act ing. Remember those extremely difficult customers or absolute brats that we have to deal with and still be professional whilst we've found 14 different ways to stab their thighs in the space of 3 seconds? All that going on INSIDE of you while your face and voice showed nothing but professionalism. ...

How it began...

Let me tell you, being a waiter ain't no walk in the park. Especially when you're working with family, like I did when my parents bought a restaurant when I was just a wee kid. As I got older, I started helping out during summer holidays, either at the takeaway shop or the restaurant. But let me tell you, working with your parents can be a total pain in the ass. They were always telling me, "This isn't how you do it!" or "Who taught you that?" Uh, hello, you did!? But once I got the hang of things, and started focusing on the customers, things started looking up. Seeing the smiles on their faces, their eagerness to come back, and the tips they left me, made the job worthwhile. I even started learning their names and having a chat with them, which made the job even more fun. And let's not forget the other perks of the job. The ladies who made the shift more enjoyable, and the bachelorette parties that would come in and make the restaurant go wild. Tho...
